A local client was doing a home renovation and wanted to upgrade the mudroom stair area. The interior designer had a vision for a modern, artistic rail and a dog gate to go with it. We were happy to help bring this vision to life!
We utilized 3/8” rectangular flat bars and then gave them a 90 degree twist. Then we mounted them at a 45 degree orientation. This gave the entire iron railing the visual illusion of changing as you viewed it from different angles. This was a stroke of design genius as it dramatically elevated this iron railings design from ordinary to extraordinary! Topped with a modern bronze caprail, this stair railing turned out nothing short of phenomenal!
As part of the scope of work we also created a custom iron gate for the dog pen directly underneath the stairs. This iron gate had the same picket design, with four horizontal bars. We custom created an iron gate latch that was very minimal. The color scheme was quite a dialogue, looking at different bronze, silver, and black hues to determine the best choice to maintain visual harmony within this design space. Ultimately, the end result of the gate went flawlessly together with the railings.
We finished them off by putting it through a sandblast, pre-treating and powder-coated process to end with a specific hue and robust finish that will provide visual impact for many years in this Pennsylvania home.
